I recieved my much anticipated LCDVF LCD Viewfinder last week.
Initally purchased a while back, i was extremely patient, waiting through until the second edition was finished.
I must admit, I panicked at first when it didn’t arrive in 2 weeks but a quick email fixed that. The return email was highly informative and told me of the progress the viewfinder was at.
I had also phoned the customer service number at they were very friendly.
Alas, this is a wonderful addition to any Canon 5D Mark II user.
Installation::
It was extremely easy to fit, even for a uncordinated handyman that I am.
Comes in 2 pieces, a stick on a Universal mounting interface: Galvanized and powder coated ferromagnetic shield, to be exact, and of course the main view finder cupI sat a book on the piece that I stuck to the body of the camera, let it sit for about 12 hours.
Then it was as easy as peeling of the sticky tape from the viewfinder lip and it has a magnetic strip which is really powerful. I was suprised to see it snatch from my fingers.
You get an foam based cup protector also in the box.
Practicle Application::
It was’t long before I tested it out, it was the following day whilst on a bus trip along Old kent Road in Elephant & Castle, London that I came across and arrest taking place with three suspects.
I took out the camera and placed the LCDVF and bam! I started filming.
Image Quality::
It looks amazing, it does appear to be a little pixelated but that aside it makes up for it while you’re focusing.
The image quality is brilliant, takes a little to get used to and I definately recommend opening both eyes frequently.
Its easy to get captured in the moment of trying to focus and walk at the same time.
Stability::
It does provide a slight steadiness to it but nothing dramatic. It makes you place it up tight against your eye and almost assume the “machine” hold.
Other Factors:
I use prescription eye glasses when I shoot and its very eyewear friendly, that said it also depends on your frames.
Adjust your LCD brightness down a level as it gets real bright if you leave it on auto.

Conclusion::
I haven’t used a Zacuto Z-Finder, I’m sure it does the job, but for the price I can get 2 of the LCDVF.
At the end of the day, Glass is Glass, and sure the Zucuto gives you an adjustment focus wheel but you soon find out an expensive lesson, you don’t need it.

I would highly recommend this unit for anyone wanting an affordable Viewfinder, its heaven sent for outdoor sunny situations.
Just make sure you put the lanyard around your neck as soon as you get ready to place it on.
I paid USD $169.00 + Shipping but they have it on sale for USD $159.00 + $22.00 for World Wide Shipping…
You can’t go wrong for that price.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
